1. The Promoter
This competition is hosted by the organisers of the Isle of Wight Steampunk Festival (“the Promoter”), Isle of Wight.
2. Who may enter
- Entrants must hold a valid ticket for either of the evening ticketed events at the 2026 festival.
- Entrants must be aged 18 or over (because we are, quite sensibly, dealing in sparkling wine).
- The Promoter may request proof of age before awarding the prize.
3. How to enter your brilliant brainwaves
- When purchasing your evening event ticket, you’ll be invited to enter the competition.
- To take part, submit your answer to the following noble challenge simply answer the multiple choice question and provide a tie-break answer as detailed on outr ticket box office.
- Entries will close once 100 tickets have been sold, or on 30 August 2026 whichever is sooner.
- One entry per ticket, though your answers cover the whole of your ticket order.
4. The nature of the contest (no dice involved)
- This is a skill-based competition, not a game of chance, lottery, or raffle (clockwork or otherwise).
- Tie-breaks will be judged on imagination, wit, originality, and general brilliance.
- Random selection will not be used—no spinning wheels, no blindfolded dart throwing, no fate-based machinery ... other than to select the actual winning ticket from those on the winning ticket order.
5. The prize
- One bottle of Adgestone Vineyard ’Something Blue’ awaits the winning inventor of words.
- No cash alternative is available (we tried, the alchemy failed).
- The prize is non-transferable and must be accepted as awarded.
6. The judging of worthy minds
- All valid entries will be reviewed by the Promoter.
- The winning entry will be selected at their discretion based on creativity and merit.
- The judges’ decision is final, even if you build a persuasive brass robot to argue otherwise.
- The winner will be contacted using the details provided at ticket purchase.
7. Personal data (kept in safe, sensible drawers)
- Your information will only be used to run this competition and contact the winner.
- It will not be shared with third parties, nor used to fuel any rogue automata.
8. General provisions (for orderly festival conduct)
- The Promoter reserves the right to amend or withdraw the competition if necessary.
- By entering you give all rights to the tie-break phrase to the Promoter for marketing and other use.
- Entry implies acceptance of these terms, even if read by candlelight or gas lamp.
